Privacy
Started. Now What? collects only the information needed to operate the website, provide paid-product access, save an optional encrypted cloud workspace, prevent abuse, and keep required purchase records.
Public website and free browser tools
The public articles do not require an account. Numbers entered into the “What can I safely do with this payment?” calculator run in the browser and are not intentionally sent to Started. Now What?. Entries in the Small Business Bookkeeping Starter—including the business name, account names and balances, transaction amounts, descriptions, categories, evidence references, and notes—are stored in the local browser profile on that device unless you download, print, or back them up; those entry values are not intentionally transmitted to Started. Now What?. Anyone who can use that browser profile may be able to open the saved entries, and clearing browser data can erase them.
The Bookkeeping Starter sends limited first-party use events to Cloudflare so Started. Now What? can measure whether the tool is started, used, backed up, restored, exported, and successfully closed. Those events contain the event name, tool and page name, a random browser-session identifier, broad transaction-count ranges, and operating-versus-non-operating classification groups. They do not contain the business name, account name, dates, balances, transaction amounts, descriptions, categories, evidence references, notes, or backup contents. The session identifier is kept in session storage and is not an advertising identifier.
Standard hosting security logs may include an IP address, request time, requested URL, browser information, and security signals. Commercial guides may contain direct or affiliate links. A paid link is visibly marked. An affiliate network or provider can receive referral information after you follow its link; its own privacy policy controls that collection.
Solo Business Money Map
The paid product uses your purchase email to verify entitlement, deliver access links, recover access, and send operational messages. It stores a pseudonymous customer identifier, Stripe purchase and entitlement identifiers, access status, security and rate-limit information, and the minimum refund or dispute records needed to enforce access correctly.
Browser-local plan
Your current plan saves automatically in the browser profile you use. Anyone who can use that profile may be able to open it. That local copy remains on the device until you clear the product data, reset the app, or remove the relevant browser storage. Clearing hosted data does not erase a browser-local copy.
Private cloud backup
When cloud backup is available and you choose to use it, the planning document is encrypted before it is stored in Cloudflare D1. The encryption is operated by Started. Now What?; it is not a zero-knowledge system. Authorized service code can decrypt a workspace to provide restore and deletion functions.
The planning tool does not ask for bank usernames, bank passwords, routing numbers, full account numbers, Social Security numbers, or tax documents. Do not enter those items into names, notes, or descriptions.
Service providers
- Cloudflare hosts the site and app, filters abuse, records limited first-party Bookkeeping Starter use events, and stores paid-product records and encrypted backups in Workers and D1.
- Stripe processes checkout, refunds, payment disputes, and any sales tax shown at checkout. Started. Now What? does not receive full card numbers.
- Brevo sends access and operational emails.
- Cloudflare Turnstile helps reduce automated access and recovery abuse.
Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy commitments. Information may be processed in the United States or other places where a provider operates.
Retention and deletion
An active encrypted workspace and access record are retained while needed to provide the product. Deleting your saved data removes the hosted encrypted workspace and active sessions. A full refund also revokes access, removes active sessions, and deletes the encrypted hosted workspace.
A limited purchase, refund, and dispute ledger may be retained after workspace deletion for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, security, and legal obligations. Security logs and recovery records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes. Backup copies may persist briefly through ordinary provider backup cycles before expiring.
Your choices
You can download or print a plan, download and restore a backup, delete hosted saved data from the product, and clear the separate browser-local copy on your device. For an access, privacy, or deletion request, email [email protected]. Send paid-access requests from the purchase email when possible.
Support may need to retain enough information to authenticate the requester and document completion. We do not sell the planning information stored in Solo Business Money Map.
